Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use either fresh or frozen broccoli. No need to thaw frozen broccoli beforehand. Use sour cream of any fat content.
Step 2
Wash fresh broccoli and divide it into florets.
Step 3
Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add salt and put the broccoli into the boiling water. Boil for 3-4 minutes; for frozen broccoli, 1 minute is enough.
Step 4
Drain the broccoli in a colander, but keep a small amount of the cooking water - it will be needed later.
Step 5
Grate the cheese on a medium grater. Any cheese will work - hard, semi-hard, soft, or mozzarella. The main thing is that it’s tasty, good-quality, with no vegetable fat substitutes, and melts well.
Step 6
Add sour cream, salt, and pepper to the cheese. Don’t add too much salt because the cheese already contains some. To make the sour cream sauce thinner, add a bit of the reserved broccoli water. Mix well.
Step 7
Take a suitable baking dish and grease it with a piece of soft butter. Arrange the broccoli in a single layer. I made half a portion; my dish was 8.7×6.7 inches (22×17 cm).
Step 8
Pour the sour cream and cheese mixture over the broccoli and spread it evenly with a spoon.
Step 9
Bake the broccoli in a preheated oven at 428°F for 15-25 minutes. The exact time will depend on the size of the dish and your oven.
Step 10
Serve the baked broccoli at the table. Enjoy!
