Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You can add other vegetables to the dish according to your taste.
Step 2
Remove any damaged outer leaves from the cabbage. Shred the cabbage, avoiding the tough leaves and core in the center.
Step 3
You can use already cleaned squid or clean it yourself by removing the skin, innards and transparent cartilage. Cut the prepared squid bodies into rings and the fins into strips.
Step 4
Peel the carrot and grate it coarsely or use a julienne grater.
Step 5
Peel the garlic and cut it into thin slices.
Step 6
Finely chop the dill. If desired, replace it or combine it with cilantro or other fresh herbs.
Step 7
Combine the tomato paste with the water and stir until completely smooth.
Step 8
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over low heat. Add the cabbage, carrot and garlic.
Step 9
Pour in the diluted tomato paste and mix well.
Step 10
Cover and braise for approximately 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender. The exact cooking time will depend on the pan, ingredients and heat level.
Step 11
Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.
Step 12
Add the squid rings and cook everything together, stirring, for no longer than 3 minutes. The squid should turn opaque and firm but remain tender.
Step 13
Turn off the heat, add the chopped dill and mix.
Step 14
Divide the braised cabbage and squid among plates and serve hot.
