Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Choose the ripest banana possible, ideally one that has already started to brown a little, because those bananas are the sweetest, and that is the most important thing for this milkshake. Use milk with a medium fat content, about 2.5-3.2%. Whole milk works best. But you can also replace the milk with light cream, about 10% fat. In that case, the milkshake will turn out very rich and filling.
Step 2
To make this drink, you will need an immersion blender and, of course, a tall blending cup or container. Peel the banana, cut it in any way you like, and place it into the blender cup. The way you cut the banana does not matter at all; you can even just break it into pieces with your hands. But for a prettier look, I sliced the banana into thin rounds.
Step 3
Add the vanilla sugar to the cup. Of course, you can do without this ingredient. But milkshakes like this are usually made for children, and children love the aroma and scent of vanilla. Cinnamon would also work very well here as another addition, as children tend to enjoy it too. I do not recommend adding extra sugar, but still, judge by the sweetness of the banana. In my opinion, even with a banana that is not very sweet, no extra sugar is needed.
Step 4
Carefully pour in the milk in a thin stream. For a smoother milkshake, I recommend using milk or cream and a banana that are all at the same temperature. Since bananas should not be chilled, you will need to take the milk out of the refrigerator in advance.
Step 5
Place the immersion blender into the cup, switch it on at the lowest speed, and blend for 3–5 minutes, until a thick foam appears.
Step 6
The milkshake turns out fairly thick. If you want, you can add not 1 banana but 1 1/2 bananas, and then the flavor will be even more banana-forward.
Step 7
Pour the finished milkshake into glasses, garnish with a banana slice, and serve. Enjoy your meal!
