Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Use any white bread you like. Choose one large tomato or a couple of smaller ones. Add garlic, salt and ground black pepper to taste, or omit them if preferred.
Step 2
Rub the bread slices with a cut garlic clove. If you enjoy a stronger garlic flavor, you can also slice the garlic thinly and place it over the tomatoes later. Spread the bread with a very thin layer of softened butter.
Step 3
Wash and dry the tomato, then cut it into thin slices.
Step 4
Coarsely grate the cheese.
Step 5
Arrange the tomato slices over the bread. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste, then sprinkle with the grated cheese. Alternatively, cut the cheese into thin slices and arrange them on top.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper and arrange the sandwiches on top.
Step 7
Bake for approximately 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted. The exact time may vary depending on your oven and the type of cheese used.
Step 8
Serve the hot sandwiches immediately while warm. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
