Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
You can use a whole chicken, but the dish tastes better with chicken legs. If using frozen meat, thaw it at room temperature beforehand. Cut the chicken into pieces, or if using legs, cut them into two parts.
Step 2
Peel the potatoes and garlic, rinse in cold water, and pat dry. Wash and dry the apples, then cut them into slices.
Step 3
Season the chicken pieces with dry spices and salt to taste. Which spices? You can use a ready-made chicken mix or your own. I used rosemary, dried oregano, basil, garlic powder, and a mixed pepper blend. Add half of the vegetable oil and mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate for 1 hour at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
Step 4
Cut large potatoes into halves or quarters, leave small ones whole. In a large bowl, combine potatoes, apples, and peeled garlic cloves. Season with salt and spices (I used the same ones as for the chicken, ½ teaspoon each). Add the remaining oil and mix well. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the potatoes with apples evenly.
Step 5
Place the chicken pieces on top, pressing them slightly into the potatoes.
Step 6
Put the baking sheet into a preheated oven and bake until done. Cooking time depends on your oven. I baked at 430°F (220°C) on top-bottom mode for about 1 hour, then switched to convection mode for another 10 minutes until golden brown.
Step 7
Chicken with potatoes and apples is ready. Serve hot and enjoy!
