Baked Bananas in the Oven
Quick, appetizing, melts in your mouth, and perfect when you need something fast. Baked Bananas in the Oven are a simple but very tasty dessert for vegetarians and for those who enjoy banana-based baked treats. There are many ways to prepare this dish. I suggest baking peeled bananas in foil in a mixture of juice, liqueur, and syrup.

Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake bananas in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. Choose firm fruit for baking, ideally slightly underripe bananas. These bananas have a firm peel, bright yellow in color, sometimes with a greenish tint. Soft, overripe bananas are not suitable here: they will darken quickly during baking and will not look very appetizing. Besides, baked overripe bananas taste overly sweet.
Step 2
Wash the bananas, dry them, and peel them. Be sure to wash bananas before using them. The peel may contain many harmful microbes that can get onto the flesh during peeling.
Step 3
Place the peeled bananas in the middle of a double sheet of foil. Foil tears quite easily, so it is better to fold it in two.
Step 4
Pour lemon juice over them, I used limoncello liqueur to give the bananas a light alcoholic note, along with mango juice and orange syrup. Orange syrup can safely be replaced with lemon syrup sold in large and small grocery stores. The citrus ingredients in the recipe balance the sweetness of the bananas with their acidity. And the mango juice highlights the tropical flavor of the dish.
Step 5
Wrap the bananas tightly in the foil so the juice does not leak out during baking. To do this, fold the foil into a packet. All the edges of the packet should be folded on top. Place the foil-wrapped bananas on a baking sheet and put them into an oven preheated to 220°C (425°F). Bake them for about 15 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the hot bananas to plates and pour over the juice left in the foil. Properly chosen bananas will either not darken at all or will darken only slightly. It is best to eat them right away while the fruit is hot. As they cool, the bananas will darken significantly and lose some of their attractive appearance. You can serve this treat with a scoop of not-too-sweet ice cream, ideally lemon sorbet or lemon ice cream, or with whipped cream. Enjoy your meal!
