Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Take a medium-sized baguette. It’s better if it’s from the previous day - such bread won’t crumble when sliced.
Step 2
Grate the cheese on a medium grater. Besides hard cheese, you can use semi-hard or soft cheese that melts well (like non-brined mozzarella). The key is that it should be tasty, high-quality, and natural without vegetable fats.
Step 3
Grate the butter as well. To make it easier, place it in the freezer for 30 minutes before cooking. Alternatively, soften it at room temperature and mash with a fork instead of grating. Use only real butter without milk fat substitutes.
Step 4
Wash the herbs, dry them well, and finely chop with a knife. Dill and parsley work well, but you can use any herbs you prefer.
Step 5
Combine all the filling ingredients in one bowl. Add peeled garlic cloves, pressing them through a garlic press (or grate or finely chop with a knife). Mix everything. If the filling seems too dry, add a bit of mayonnaise.
Step 6
Make crosswise cuts along the baguette, about 1 cm (0.4 in) wide, but do not cut all the way through - the bread should stay whole, opening like an accordion.
Step 7
Fill the cuts with the prepared mixture using a spoon, knife, or your hands. Spread it over the bread pieces as evenly as possible.
Step 8
Wrap the baguette in several layers of foil.
Step 9
Place the wrapped baguette on a baking sheet and put it in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F). Bake for 15 minutes, then open the foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes until the crust is crispy.
Step 10
Serve the baguette hot. Tear off the pieces one by one and enjoy. Bon appétit!
