Preparation
Step 1
Choose ripe but firm avocados - soft ones may lose their shape while baking. Use plain, creamy cream cheese without flavorings. You can substitute it with ricotta or processed cheese. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. If they don’t sit flat, trim a bit off the bottom to stabilize them. Do not peel the skin. Make shallow cuts in the avocado flesh.
Step 3
Using a brush, coat the avocados with sweet chili sauce. You can replace it with a spicy tomato sauce or, for a sweet version, drizzle liquid honey instead.
Step 4
Fill each avocado half with cream cheese, shaping it like the removed pit.
Step 5
Drizzle the stuffed avocados with the remaining sauce. Place them in a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes. The exact time depends on the avocado’s size, ripeness, and your oven. The flesh should become tender but keep its shape.
Step 6
Transfer the hot appetizer to a serving plate, garnish with mint, and serve. Enjoy!
