Preparation
Step 1
How to make an apple cake with butter and sour cream in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. Take all refrigerated products out in advance so they reach room temperature. If you don’t have time to wait for the butter to soften naturally, warm it briefly in the microwave or over a water bath so it melts slightly. Put the butter into a bowl; after warming, let it cool back down to room temperature.
Step 2
Add the egg, sour cream, and sugar. If you like, adjust the amount of sugar to make it sweeter or less sweet. Whisk or beat with a mixer until smooth.
Step 3
Sift the flour to aerate it and make the cake lighter and fluffier. Mix the flour with baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the bowl with the liquid ingredients. You may need a little more or less flour - go by the batter consistency.
Step 4
Mix the batter with a whisk or mixer until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream. Mix thoroughly so all flour lumps are gone. Let the batter rest on the counter for 20 minutes.
Step 5
It’s best to use sweet-and-tart apples. Wash the apples, peel them, and remove the cores and seeds. Slice into wedges or cut into small cubes - whichever you prefer.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Grease the baking pan with butter. Pour the batter into the pan.
Step 7
Arrange the prepared apple pieces on top and press them slightly into the batter. Bake the cake for 30 minutes. Check doneness with a wooden toothpick - it should come out dry. Remove the cake from the oven and from the pan. Let it cool a little and serve with tea, coffee, or cocoa. Enjoy your tea time!
