Preparation
Step 1
How to make apple and pear compote for winter? Prepare the ingredients according to the list. Choose ripe, juicy, worm-free apples and pears. You can use either sweet or sweet-and-sour varieties. This recipe makes two 3-liter (about 3 quarts) jars.
Step 2
Wash the pears and apples thoroughly. Peeling the fruit is optional. Remove the cores, seeds, and stems. Cut the fruit into cubes or slices.
Step 3
Divide the chopped apples and pears evenly between two clean, sterilized 3-liter jars.
Step 4
Pour boiling water into each jar until full, cover with lids, and let sit for 15-20 minutes to infuse.
Step 5
Drain the water from the jars into a pot using a lid with holes. Cover the jars with metal lids. Add granulated sugar to the water and bring the syrup to a boil.
Step 6
Pour the boiling syrup back into the jars over the apples and pears.
Step 7
Seal the jars tightly with sterilized lids.
Step 8
Turn the jars upside down, wrap them in a warm blanket, and let them cool completely. Store the apple and pear compote in a cool, dark place. Happy preserving!
