Yeast Dough with Water and Baking Powder for Pirozhki
For homemade baking in the oven or in a skillet! A great recipe for water-based dough with fresh pressed yeast for fluffy pirozhki that will pleasantly surprise you with its taste!

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients for making a wonderful yeast dough for pirozhki.
Step 2
Pour 250 ml warm boiled water (about 1 cup) into a measuring cup, then add 50 g sugar (about 1/4 cup) and 25 g fresh pressed yeast (about 0.9 oz).
Step 3
Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the cup.
Step 4
Mix everything well and set it aside for 15-20 minutes to activate the yeast.
Step 5
Crack 1 egg into a large bowl.
Step 6
Add 1 teaspoon of salt.
Step 7
Pour in 50 ml vegetable oil (about 3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon) and mix well.
Step 8
After 15 minutes, pour the well-risen sponge mixture into the bowl.
Step 9
Stir everything until smooth.
Step 10
Sift 500 g flour (about 4 cups, depending on flour) into the bowl in portions.
Step 11
Add 5 g baking powder (about 1 teaspoon).
Step 12
Mix and knead the dough.
Step 13
Transfer the dough to a work surface lightly dusted with flour.

Knead the dough well for 10 minutes.
Step 15
Put the dough into a bowl, brush it with a little vegetable oil, cover with a plastic bag, and let it proof.
Step 16
After 1 hour, place the well-proofed dough onto the table and, pressing it gently, shape it into a log.
Step 17
Divide the dough into several equal pieces. Shape each piece into a small round and place your desired filling in the center.

Pinch the edges closed securely around the filling.
Step 19
Shape pirozhki of the desired size and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 20
If you like, bake the pirozhki in the oven.

Or, if you prefer, fry the pirozhki in a hot skillet with vegetable oil until golden brown.
