Yeast Dough Puffs
Soft, airy, and tender - a little celebration every day! These yeast dough puffs look like donuts but are softer, lighter, and fried in less oil. Kids especially love them with condensed milk, jam, or sweet sauces.

Easy
More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
Use high-grade flour. Use instant yeast (the kind you mix directly with flour). I used refined sunflower oil, but you can replace it with olive or other vegetable oil.
Step 2
Sift 300 g (about 2 ½ cups) of flour into a bowl.
Step 3
Add yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix everything. If your yeast needs activation, dissolve it in warm water with sugar, wait for foam to form, then pour into the flour with oil and knead the dough. Continue following the rest of the recipe.
Step 4
Make a well in the flour, pour in warm water (98-104°F / 37-40°C) and oil. Knead until you have a soft, elastic dough. If it’s slightly sticky, that’s fine - you can add about 50 g (⅓ cup) more flour later.
Step 5
Sprinkle the dough with flour, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 6
Add the remaining flour (about 50 g / ⅓ cup) and knead again. Add more or less depending on consistency - the dough should be soft and elastic, not stiff.
Step 7
Roll the dough into a long log and cut it into 10-12 equal pieces.
Step 8
Roll each piece into a rope and form into rings (like donuts) or flatten into round puffs.
Step 9
Heat oil in a skillet and fry the puffs over medium heat for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
Step 10
If the oil splatters, cover the pan with a lid. Remove the puffs and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Step 11
Let them cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!
