Preparation
Step 1
How to bake carp in foil? Prepare the listed ingredients. Buy carp from a trusted store and make sure it’s fresh. My fish weighed 900 g (about 2 lb). I use a fish seasoning blend; you can use your favorite spices or skip them. You’ll need 4-6 lemon wedges. Add salt to taste. Prepare foil and a baking tray/dish. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Step 2
To bake carp, it needs to be cleaned and gutted. Large stores often sell it already gutted. If the fish is whole, remove the innards by making a cut along the belly from tail to head. Remove the gills so the cooked fish doesn’t taste bitter. Then scale the carp - use a fish scaler or the blunt side of a knife. I usually do this inside a bag to keep the kitchen clean.
Step 3
I don’t cut off the tail or fins, but you can trim them with scissors if you like. Pat the fish dry with a towel. In a separate bowl, mix salt and dried spices and rub the fish all over and inside. Remember that ready-made spice mixes often already contain salt. Place the prepared fish on a double layer of foil, then set it on a baking tray or in a baking dish.
Step 4
Wash the lemon and cut it into wedges. Put the wedges inside the fish. You can also arrange a few wedges on top of the carp, to taste.
Step 5
Wrap the fish in foil and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes (adjust to your oven). For a browned crust, open or remove the foil 10 minutes before it’s done and finish baking uncovered.
Step 6
Carefully remove the baked fish from the oven and take off the foil. Transfer the carp to a serving platter and garnish as desired. Serve hot. As a side, offer vegetables, potatoes, or rice. Baked fish in foil turns out very juicy, tasty, and wholesome.
