Preparation
Step 1
Use boneless turkey meat - fillet works best. For pilaf, choose long-grain rice so it doesn’t overcook and stays fluffy.
Step 2
Cut the turkey fillet into small pieces. Heat a little vegetable oil in a skillet and add the turkey. Fry for 5-7 minutes, until golden.
Step 3
While the meat is frying, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onion and carrot and rinse them under running water. Cut the carrot into sticks and the onion into half rings.
Step 4
Add the chopped vegetables to the skillet with the meat. Stir and sauté everything together for another 2-3 minutes, until aromatic.
Step 5
Pour in a little hot water, cover with a lid, and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
Rinse the rice several times in cold water, then add it to the skillet with the turkey.
Step 7
Pour in the remaining hot water. Add cumin (zira) and turmeric. Season with salt and ground pepper to taste. For stronger aroma, crush the cumin between your fingers before adding.
Step 8
Cover the skillet and cook the pilaf over low heat for 20–25 minutes. The rice will absorb all the liquid and become soft. If necessary, add a bit more water - but only a little, to keep the rice fluffy.
Step 9
The turkey pilaf is ready! Spoon it onto plates and serve warm. Enjoy your meal!
