Steamed Pollock
Light, healthy, and diet-friendly! Steamed pollock turns out juicy, aromatic, and delicious. It retains all its nutrients, unlike fish cooked by boiling. Minimal oil is used, making this dish low in calories and ideal for healthy eating.

Preparation
Step 1
Pollock is usually sold frozen - defrost it properly. Choose seasonings to taste; I used only ground black pepper. You can substitute olive oil with regular vegetable oil.
Step 2
My pollock was already gutted and headless. If yours has a head, remove it. Also trim off the dorsal and side fins - scissors work best. Slice open the belly, remove the insides, and don’t forget to scrape away the black film inside - it tastes bitter. Cut off the tail. Rinse the fish thoroughly inside and out, then pat it dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Place the cleaned pollock in a bowl. Add salt, your favorite spices, and lemon juice. Drizzle with olive oil (or vegetable oil) and rub everything into the fish with your hands to coat evenly.
Step 4
You can steam pollock in an electric steamer (like I did) or in other devices - a multicooker, microwave with a steaming function, a steaming insert over a pot, or even a simple colander. Arrange the fish in the steaming basket.
Step 5
Set the basket into your steamer or over a pot. If steaming on the stove, you can add a few bay leaves to the boiling water for aroma. My steamer doesn’t allow adding anything to the water. Steam for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. Whole fish need about 15 minutes, while fillets or chunks need less.
Step 6
Carefully remove the cooked fish and serve it hot with your favorite side dish or enjoy it on its own.
Step 7
Serve steamed pollock with a lemon wedge, fresh herbs, and a sauce of your choice. Enjoy your meal!
