First, prepare all the necessary ingredients for making yeast-free puff pastry suitable for any baking.
Step 2
Take a deep bowl and crack in one egg, then add half a teaspoon of salt.
Step 3
Beat the egg well to break up the protein strands and combine the yolk with the white.
Step 4
Pour 80 ml (about ⅓ cup) of ice-cold boiled water into the bowl with the beaten egg.
Step 5
Add one teaspoon of lemon juice and mix all the ingredients thoroughly until smooth.
Step 6
Sift 300 g (about 2 ½ cups) of all-purpose flour into a large bowl. Then, grate 180 g (about ¾ cup) of frozen butter directly into the flour using a coarse grater. Mix the butter and flour well.
Step 7
Pour the egg mixture into the bowl with the flour and butter, and start mixing to form a dough.
Step 8
Continue gathering and pressing the dough together by hand until it comes together into a smooth consistency.
Step 9
Place the prepared dough in a plastic bag, shape it into a flat rectangle for easier rolling later, and refrigerate for 2 hours or freeze for 30 minutes.
Step 10
After chilling, remove the dough from the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for about 5 minutes. Lightly flour your work surface and roll the dough out to the desired thickness.
