Preparation
Step 1
How to make homemade pizza with onions, sausage and cheese? Prepare the ingredients for the tomato sauce. You can replace olive oil with neutral vegetable oil. Instead of basil you can use other aromatic herbs, such as oregano.
Step 2
Slightly heat the olive oil in a pan. Add the garlic, previously peeled and cut into thin slices. Let the garlic cook over medium heat for about 1 minute so the oil takes on a spicy aroma and flavor. Be careful not to overheat the oil, otherwise the garlic will burn. Remove the garlic from the pan. If you like, you can finely chop or press the garlic and leave it in - then its flavor in the sauce will be more pronounced.
Step 3
Add the tomato paste to the pan and stir. Warm the tomato paste over medium heat for a couple of minutes, stirring.
Step 4
Add water and mix well.
Step 5
Bring the sauce to a boil. Add salt, sugar and dried basil or other spices to taste. Cook the sauce over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring from time to time.
Step 6
Remove the sauce from the stove, cover with a lid and let it sit for a while. The tomato sauce will become thicker and gain a richer taste and aroma.
Step 7
Measure out the ingredients for the dough.
Step 8
Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. If you are sure about the quality of the yeast, you don’t have to wait for activation. If you have doubts, leave the mixture for about 10 minutes until a light foam appears on the surface.
Step 9
Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture and stir.
Step 10
Sift the flour. Set a little aside, since you may need less than the indicated amount. First mix the dough with a spoon. Then knead it by hand, adding flour as needed. Focus not on the exact amount of flour, but on the desired dough consistency.
Step 11
Knead a soft, fairly loose dough that doesn’t stick to your hands. Cover the dough with a towel and leave it in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Step 12
Meanwhile prepare the topping. You can use any sausage you like; here it’s dry-cured.
Step 13
Peel the onion and cut it into half rings or “feathers”.
Step 14
In a pan with some vegetable oil, sauté the onion, stirring from time to time, until cooked through. The onion should become soft.
Step 15
Add soy sauce to the onion and stir. Let the onion simmer with the sauce for 1-2 minutes and remove from the heat. Let the topping cool.
Step 16
Cut the sausage into thin slices.
Step 17
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese that you like and that melts well: hard, semi-hard or soft, such as mozzarella. The main thing is that it is tasty and without vegetable fat substitutes.
Step 18
The dough has risen. Preheat the oven to 190-200 °C (about 375-390 °F).
Step 19
On a sheet of parchment roll out the dough into a thin round base. Mine is about 25 cm (10 inches) in diameter. Form small edges around the rim.
Step 20
Transfer the parchment with the dough onto a baking sheet. Spread the base with the tomato sauce. You can use ketchup or a ready-made sauce instead.
Step 21
Evenly distribute the sautéed onions.
Step 22
Arrange the slices of sausage.
Step 23
Sprinkle the topping with grated cheese.
Step 24
Bake the pizza in the preheated 190-200 °C (375-390 °F) oven for about 15 minutes. The cheese should melt and the edges of the pizza should become lightly golden. The exact time and mode of baking may vary; adjust them according to how your oven works.
Step 25
Take the finished pizza out of the oven, cut it into portions and serve immediately. Enjoy!
