Preparation
Step 1
Peel the potatoes and rinse off any dirt. If the pork is frozen, take it out of the freezer in advance so it can thaw at room temperature. Choose boneless meat.
Step 2
For baking, take any heatproof dish. It can be glass, metal or ceramic. Lightly grease the bottom of the dish with vegetable oil. Cut the pork into pieces and spread them in an even layer over the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle the meat with salt and spices.
Step 3
Peel the onion, rinse it in cold water and cut it into half rings or slightly smaller pieces. Spread the chopped onion over the meat.
Step 4
Wash the potatoes under running water with a brush and peel them. Grate the raw potatoes on a coarse grater.
Step 5
Do not leave the grated potatoes for long, otherwise they will start to darken. Immediately spread the grated potatoes over the meat and distribute them evenly. Add a little salt.
Step 6
Wash the tomatoes, cut them in half and remove the stem part. Then slice the tomatoes. Lay the tomato slices over the potatoes.
Step 7
As the top layer, add the cheese grated on a grater. Place the dish into an oven preheated to 180°C (about 355°F) for 45-50 minutes. The exact time depends on the type of potatoes you use and the specifics of your oven. If you don’t want the cheese to brown, sprinkle it on at the end of baking so it will only melt slightly.
Step 8
The meat under the potato and cheese “coat” is ready! Take the dish out of the oven and portion the food onto plates. Serve hot.
Step 9
It turns out very tasty and satisfying! Enjoy your meal!
