- tablespoon - 20 ml

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients and spices for making appetizing meatballs from mixed ground meat and rice in tomato sauce baked in the oven.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine 700 g (1.5 lb) of mixed pork and beef mince with salt to taste, then add 200 g (about 1 cup) of slightly boiled and rinsed rice.
Step 3
Add 1 finely chopped onion to the bowl.
Step 4
Crack 1 egg into the bowl and add 1-2 minced garlic cloves.
Step 5
Season with a mix of red and black ground pepper to taste, then mix all ingredients together.
Step 6
Knead the mixture thoroughly with your hands until smooth and cohesive. Beat it a few times against the bowl to make it denser, then let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 7
For the sauce, grate 1 carrot on a coarse grater and finely chop 1 large onion. Place them in a heated skillet with 2 tbsp vegetable oil and sauté over medium heat until the onion becomes translucent.
Step 8
Add 1/3 tsp salt and 1 tsp sugar to the skillet.
Step 9
Stir in 1 tsp paprika and 4-5 tbsp tomato paste, mixing everything well.
Step 10
Add 1-2 bay leaves and 1 tsp dried herbs, then mix again.
Step 11
Pour in 350 ml (1.5 cups) of boiling water, cover the skillet with a lid, bring to a boil, and simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes.
Step 12
Shape the minced meat mixture into even-sized meatballs.
Step 13
Roll each meatball lightly in flour and place them on a floured plate.
Step 14
Add some red and black pepper to the sauce to taste, stir, cover the skillet, and remove it from the heat.
Step 15
In another skillet, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over high heat. Add the meatballs and fry them until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side.
Step 16
Place the fried meatballs in a baking dish and pour the prepared tomato sauce over them. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 35-40 minutes.
Step 17
Remove the baking dish from the oven and serve the meatballs hot, portioned onto plates.
Step 18
Cook together, cook simply, and enjoy the most delicious homemade meals from everyday ingredients! Bon appétit!
