Preparation
Step 1
How to make garlic croutons in a skillet? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can use any type of bread - try two kinds for variety. Day-old bread (1-2 days) works best, as fresh bread crumbles too easily when sliced. Adjust the amount of garlic to your taste.
Step 2
Peel several garlic cloves, rinse, and crush them with a garlic press. Mix with vegetable oil and stir. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes - the oil will absorb the garlic flavor and aroma. You can add a pinch of salt if desired.
Step 3
Slice the bread into pieces - square, triangle, rectangle, or thick sticks - whichever shape you prefer.
Step 4
Heat a wide, flat skillet over medium-low heat and add some of the garlic oil. Place the bread pieces in the pan and fry on both sides until golden brown. Low heat will help the bread both toast and dry evenly, turning into crunchy croutons.
Step 5
You can leave the croutons in the cooling skillet for extra crispness. If you want a stronger garlic flavor, rub the croutons with a fresh clove of garlic while still warm.
Step 6
Transfer the ready croutons to a bowl and season to taste with salt, herbs, or spices. Dried herbs work especially well. Fragrant and crispy garlic croutons are ready - enjoy!
