About 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
How do you cook fresh apple compote in a pot? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Use ripe sweet-and-tart apples. Choose firm fruit - very soft apples will break down too much during cooking. Compote from red apples will be pinkish, while light varieties will give a paler drink. The more apples you use, the more concentrated the compote will be.
Step 2
Rinse the apples under running water, slice them, removing the cores. Put the sliced apples into the pot you’ll use for cooking. Use non-reactive cookware, such as enamel or nonstick. Aluminum isn’t suitable.
Step 3
Cover the apples with water and place the pot on the heat. Bring everything to a boil.
Step 4
Add sugar to the boiling apples. Add sugar to taste, depending on how sweet or tart the apples are - very tart apples may need a bit more. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves.
Step 5
Simmer the compote for 2-3 minutes and remove from heat. Cover with a lid and let it steep until completely cool.
Step 6
Strain the cooled, infused compote through a fine sieve and pour into a pitcher. In summer, it’s best chilled in the refrigerator before serving.
Step 7
Enjoy your treat!!!
