Preparation
Step 1
How to bake flaxseed cookies? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Take a deep mixing bowl. Sift the wheat flour through a sieve - this helps aerate it, making the dough lighter and fluffier while removing any impurities.
Step 3
Add the remaining dry ingredients. I used a pinch of dried garlic for a subtle aroma. You can also add some Italian herbs or basil for flavor.
Step 4
Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly with a clean, dry spoon.
Step 5
Add refined vegetable oil - olive, sesame, rapeseed, or corn oil will all work. Pour in milk gradually; you’ll need about 150 ml (2/3 cup). Adjust the amount depending on the flour quality.
Step 6
Knead the dough - it should be of medium consistency, soft and slightly sticky to the hands.
Step 7
If the dough isn’t sticky, roll it into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
Step 8
If it’s sticky, sprinkle the surface with a bit of flour and knead gently. Don’t overdo it, or the dough will become tough and the cookies hard.
Step 9
Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 10
Sprinkle your work surface with flour and roll out the dough to a thin layer, about 2-3 mm (1/10 inch) thick.
Step 11
Cut the dough into shapes - depending on thickness, you’ll get about 2 baking trays of cookies.
Step 12
Arrange on a baking sheet (parchment paper optional). Bake in a preheated oven at 180-200°C (355–390°F) for about 15-20 minutes, until lightly golden.
Step 13
The cookies should be golden brown with a crisp texture.
Step 14
You can shape them however you like - hearts, circles, or squares.
Step 15
Serve the flaxseed cookies with aromatic sauces, ketchup, or enjoy them plain.
