About 45 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Use sour cream of any fat content. Choose a good-quality, buttery margarine - its flavor will affect the final taste. If you don’t use margarine, replace it with the same amount of butter. For the filling, use thick jam without seeds.
Step 2
Start by making the dough. How to make it? Take a large bowl and sift flour into it. Add salt and mix well so it’s evenly distributed. Sugar is not added to the dough since the jam and powdered sugar will provide enough sweetness.
Step 3
Take cold margarine straight from the fridge. Cut it into cubes and add it to the flour.
Step 4
Rub the margarine and flour with your hands until it forms a crumbly texture. Then add the sour cream and knead the dough by hand. Don’t overmix - once it comes together into a ball, stop kneading.
Step 5
Place the dough in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Step 6
Take it out, cut off one-third, and return the rest to the fridge. It’s easier to work with smaller portions. Dust the surface with flour and roll the dough into a thin circle about 1/16 inch (2 mm) thick.
Step 7
Cut the circle into 12 equal triangles.
Step 8
Place about half a teaspoon of jam on the wide end of each triangle. If your jam is runny, sprinkle it with a bit of cornstarch.
Step 9
Starting from the wide end with the filling, roll each triangle into a crescent shape. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
Step 10
Line a 12×16 inch (30×40 cm) baking sheet with parchment paper and place the rolls on it. Take the next piece of dough from the fridge and continue shaping rolls.
Step 11
From 300 g (about 2 ½ cups) of flour, you’ll get a full baking sheet of rolls.
Step 12
Preheat the oven to 320°F (160°C). Bake the rolls for 40-50 minutes, until golden. Note that baking times may vary depending on your oven.
Step 13
Cool the rolls and generously dust them with powdered sugar.
Step 14
Serve with coffee, tea, or a glass of milk. Enjoy!
