Preparation
Step 1
How to make cranberry kissel with starch? Prepare all the ingredients. Sort the cranberries, removing stems and leaves, and rinse them well. Use potato starch. You can adjust the amount of sugar and starch depending on your taste and the desired thickness. After your first try, you’ll easily find your perfect ratio.
Step 2
Crush the washed berries using any convenient method - a blender, meat grinder, or potato masher.
Step 3
Pour boiling water over the crushed berries and cover. Let sit for 15-20 minutes to allow the juices to release into the water.
Step 4
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve.
Step 5
Pour the resulting juice into a saucepan, add sugar, and place over heat. In a separate glass, mix the starch with cold water. Once the cranberry juice boils, slowly pour in the starch mixture while stirring constantly. Bring it back to a boil and simmer for 1-2 minutes over low heat. The kissel will thicken as it boils.
Step 6
The finished kissel is delicious both hot and cold. To prevent a film from forming as it cools, sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on top. A sweet berry treat for kids and adults alike - enjoy!
