More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use store-bought ground meat, but it’s better to make your own. Ćevapčići can be made from beef or a mix - for example, beef and pork. Run the meat through a meat grinder twice.
Step 2
There are two ways to prepare the mixture. First: grind onion in a meat grinder, crush garlic, and add both with spices, salt, egg, and baking soda to the meat. Mix thoroughly. Second: chop onion and garlic finely and add directly to the meat.
Step 3
Place the ground meat into a blender bowl, add egg, spices, salt, and soda.
Step 4
Blend the entire mixture until smooth, then transfer it to a bowl.
Step 5
Knead or beat the mixture against the bowl bottom until uniform. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours.
Step 6
Scoop the chilled mixture with a tablespoon and, with wet hands, form thin sausages - about 1.5-2 cm (½-¾ in) thick and 10 cm (4 in) long.
Step 7
Heat refined vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed frying pan. Place the sausages in to fry.
Step 8
Turn them periodically until fully cooked. Once done, place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Step 9
Serve hot and enjoy!
