Preparation
Step 1
How to make canned sardines salad: Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Open the can and remove the fish from the liquid. You can cut the fish into pieces or simply mash it with a fork.
Step 3
Boil unpeeled potatoes over medium heat until tender. To check, pierce with a knife - if it goes through easily, the potato is done. Remove from water, cool completely, peel, and grate coarsely.
Step 4
Boil eggs in water until fully cooked, about 8 minutes on medium heat. Cool eggs in cold water for easy peeling. Peel, cut in half, and separate whites from yolks.
Step 5
Wash and dry the fresh cucumber. If the skin is tender, undamaged, and not bitter, leave it on. Dice into small cubes.
Step 6
Grate the egg whites coarsely.
Step 7
To assemble the salad, you can use a serving ring (e.g., 7-inch / 18 cm diameter). First layer: grated potatoes.
Step 8
Optionally, lightly salt the potato layer and spread some mayonnaise.
Step 9
Next, layer the canned fish. This layer doesn’t need mayonnaise.
Step 10
On top of the fish, evenly layer the diced cucumber.
Step 11
Spread a layer of mayonnaise over the cucumber.
Step 12
Next layer: grated egg whites. Lightly salt and add mayonnaise.
Step 13
Top with finely grated egg yolks. The salad is ready. Chill briefly or serve immediately.
Step 14
Before serving, optionally decorate with cucumber slices, bell pepper, and fresh herbs. Enjoy!
