Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Defrost frozen calamari in advance. If the calamari are whole, peel off the skin and inner films, remove the chitin plate and all innards.
Step 2
Slice the squid tubes into rings about 1 cm (about 1/2 inch) wide.
Step 3
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Do not add salt. Put the calamari rings into the boiling water. Cook the calamari for exactly one minute after the water returns to a boil. No longer, otherwise they will become rubbery and tasteless. It is convenient to lower the calamari into the water right in a metal colander - this way you can lift them out instantly so they don’t overcook, and it’s easier to drain excess water.
Step 4
Add a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, chopped chilli and soy sauce to a bowl. Stir the marinade.
Step 5
Pour the marinade over the calamari. Mix thoroughly and leave them to marinate for no more than 15 minutes. After that they are ready to serve. I used a vacuum sealer so that the calamari would soak up the marinade faster - it took me only about seven minutes. Enjoy!
