Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all ingredients. Wash and peel the carrots and onion. Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and dice the onion finely. Remove the wilted outer leaves from the cabbage head and slice the cabbage into thin strips.
Step 2
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet with a thick bottom. Add the grated carrots. Add the chopped onion to the skillet as well. Mix everything thoroughly and sauté over high heat, stirring continuously.
Step 3
Add most of the cabbage to the skillet first, mix, and keep sautéing over high heat. Add salt to taste and stir again. Add the remaining cabbage and, stirring periodically, fry the vegetables over high heat for about 7-10 minutes. After that, add all the spices except the pepper, the pressed garlic, and mix again.
Step 4
Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet with a lid, and simmer the cabbage for 15-20 minutes. Then add bay leaves, tomato paste, butter, and the mix of black and red pepper. Stir everything well, cover again, and continue simmering for another 5-7 minutes until fully tender.
Step 5
Serve the stewed cabbage as a standalone dish or as a side. It pairs perfectly with juicy meat patties, grilled chicken breast, pork chops, or sausages. Enjoy!
