- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Use boneless beef - only lean meat without veins, connective tissue, or cartilage. If using frozen meat, defrost it properly in the refrigerator. You can also use your favorite spice mix for meat.
Step 2
Wash the beef and pat it dry with a paper towel - extra moisture will prevent proper browning. Cut into strips about 2x0.5 inches (5×1 cm).
Step 3
Coat the beef pieces in starch. To make it easy, place the meat in a plastic bag, add corn starch or flour.
Step 4
Tie the bag and shake until evenly coated. You can skip this and add starch directly to the sour cream sauce later - results will be similar.
Step 5
Peel and slice the onion into half-rings.
Step 6
Prepare the sour cream sauce: mix cold sour cream (any fat content, e.g. 20%) with water until smooth - this prevents curdling during cooking.
Step 7
Set the multicooker to “Fry” mode for 20 minutes. You can also use the “Stew” mode for 1.5 hours, but frying gives better browning.
Step 8
Pour vegetable oil into the bowl and heat for one minute. Add onions, lightly salt, and cook for 5 minutes until golden, stirring occasionally.
Step 9
Add the starch-coated beef to the onions, stir, and cook together for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 10
Season with salt, pepper, and add a bay leaf. Salt only after browning, or the meat will release too much juice.
Step 11
Add tomato paste, stir, and cook another 2-3 minutes. Turn off the multicooker and let it stop boiling before adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
Step 12
Pour the sour cream sauce into the meat and stir. If you prefer more sauce, add some boiling water.
Step 13
Set the multicooker to “Stew” for 1 hour 20 minutes. Stir occasionally and cook until the beef is tender. Adjust salt if needed.
Step 14
Serve hot with your favorite side - pasta, potatoes, or rice. Enjoy your meal!
