Preparation
Step 1
How to make baked meat patties with potatoes and cheese? Prepare all ingredients. I used chicken fillet for the mince, but any meat or fish mince will work. Olive oil can be replaced with any neutral vegetable oil.
Step 2
For the patties, soak the crumb of bread or white loaf in 3-4 tbsp milk.
Step 3
Rinse the chicken fillet, pat dry, cut into small pieces and blend until smooth.
Step 4
Peel and chop the onion, then blend it as well. In a bowl combine the mince, blended onion, and soaked bread. Add salt and black pepper.
Step 5
Mix everything thoroughly.
Step 6
With wet hands, form patties of desired size and shape.
Step 7
Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them into rounds about 4 mm thick. Do not cut too thinly or the potatoes will dry out. Use medium potatoes of similar size for a neat look. Salt, drizzle with olive oil (reserve a bit for greasing the pan), add spices if desired, and mix.
Step 8
Grease the baking dish with olive oil. Spread 2/3 of the potatoes over the bottom and sides.
Step 9
Place the patties on top of the potatoes, leaving small gaps between them.
Step 10
Arrange the remaining potato slices upright between the patties. Pour the remaining milk over the potatoes and patties. Bake in a preheated 180°C (350°F) oven for 25-30 minutes. If the potato edges brown too early, cover with foil.
Step 11
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
Step 12
Carefully remove the dish from the oven. Sprinkle cheese over the potatoes and patties.
Step 13
Bake another 10 minutes until the cheese melts. Adjust time and temperature based on your oven.
Step 14
Serve the baked patties with potatoes and cheese hot, with fresh vegetables and herbs. Enjoy!
