Ant Hill Pastry with Caramelized Condensed Milk
A beautiful dessert - very simple and very delicious! Ant Hill Pastry is a childhood favorite that even a beginner can handle. I baked the cookies for the base myself, but if you need the dessert quickly, you can use store-bought cookies, making the process take just a few minutes.

- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Use high-grade flour. Choose thick, good-quality caramelized condensed milk - it should not be runny or have an artificial smell. Use sour cream with at least 20% fat. The butter must be high-quality and at room temperature, so remove it from the fridge in advance.
Step 2
Sift the flour into a bowl. Add softened room-temperature butter, sour cream, and baking powder.
Step 3
Knead a soft, elastic dough. Do not overmix shortcrust dough, or the cookies will turn hard. At first, the dough will feel sticky, but as ingredients combine it will thicken and come off your hands. I didn’t need extra flour, but if it sticks too much, add 1-2 tbsp. Avoid adding too much flour.
Step 4
Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and freeze for 45 minutes.
Step 5
Grate the chilled dough on a coarse grater directly onto a parchment-lined baking tray. Bake at 180°C / 350°F for 10-15 minutes until golden. Time may vary depending on your oven. Cool the baked dough completely.
Step 6
Rub the cooled baked dough into coarse crumbs with your hands.
Step 7
Chop the walnuts.
Step 8
Combine the crumbs with caramelized condensed milk and chopped walnuts.
Step 9
Mix everything thoroughly so the condensed milk coats all crumbs and nuts evenly.
Step 10
Shape the mixture into small cone-shaped pastries. If the mixture sticks to your hands, moisten them lightly with water. I got 9 pastries.
Step 11
Dust some pastries with poppy seeds or dip the tops into a bowl of poppy seeds.
Step 12
Drizzle the remaining pastries with chocolate topping or melted chocolate from a piping bag. You may skip the topping - the pastries will still taste great.
Step 13
Garnish with mint, fruits, or berries and serve. Enjoy!
